Susanne Gervay’s award winning stories have been recognized by the University of Canberra, Society of Women Writers, Southerly, Mattoid, Quadrant, Westerly, Voices (Australian National Library), Hermes and numerous literary university publications and included in the acclaimed Indian-Australian anthologies – Fear Factor: Terror Incognito; Alien Shores; Only Connect; Glass Walls; Relatively True.
Her works are included in numerous anthologies globally. She has a special relationship with the India, Australia and multi-culturalism.
Indian-Australian Anthologies
In a visionary new venture of literary collaboration, two writers, one a professor from the University of Delhi and one, an academic from the University of Technology Sydney, collaborated as editors in an anthology opening communication, creative and intellectual dialogue between India and Australia. There are five anthologies opening debate and discussion on the great issues of our time – terrorism, refugees, technology, asylum and fake news.
Professor Meenakshi Bharat, University of Delhi, is a writer, translator, reviewer and critic. Some of her published books are: The Ultimate Colony: The Child in Postcolonial Fiction; Rushdie the Novelist. She is on International Federation of Modern Languages and Literatures , Indian Association for the Study of Australia, Bureau Member International Council of Philosophy and the Human Sciences, Life Member Association for British Scholars.
Dr Sharon Rundle is Chair of the University of Technology Sydney Writers’ Alumni; has served on the Board of Directors of the NSW Writers’ Centre; and is a founding member of Asia Pacific Writers and Translators, UTS Friend of Distinction, Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd), Indian-Australian Business and Community Association Award Finalist. https://sharonrundle.com.au
Susanne Gervay was inspired by these two remarkable women and their literary vision. She travelled with them on their journeys to India and Australia, as a writer, colleague, University of Technology Sydney Alumni, speaker in both India and Australia.
David Malouf, Booker Prize winner, acclaimed poet, novelist Rosie Scott, journalist, writer, ABC radio presenter Sunil Badami, acclaimed indigenous author Anita Heiss, Booker Prize winner Sir Salman Rushdie as well as Susanne Gervay are among the contributors to the anthologies.

Agathokakogical Aussie Summer – Stories from India and Australia

It was an honour to speak at the IASA Conference in Goa, India, with Dr Sharon Rundle, PHD student, Susanne Gervay and Satendra Nanden. Satendra was first elected to the House of Representatives of Fiji as a National Federation Party candidate at the 1982 Fijian general election. He contested the 1987 election as a candidate for the Fiji Labour Party, and was re-elected. He was appointed Minister of Health, Social Welfare and Women’s Affairs in the government of Timoci Bavadra, but was removed from office by the 1987 Fijian coups d’état. After the 1987 coup, he migrated to Australia and took up a position at the Australian National University in Canberra. He worked as a professor of literature and director of the Centre for Writing. He returned to Fiji in 2005, where he helped establish the University of Fiji.
